“Voyage Around The World”

An interactive touch-table exhibit at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, created by Night Kitchen Interactive. The purpose is to give up to four players the opportunity to assign crew members to tasks aboard the 19th Century whaling ship, the Lagoda. While the theme of the game is to catch whales, the overarching purpose is to educate visitors about the lives, ambitions, and diverse identities of the men and women who voyaged around the world in pursuit of freedom and success.

I had the privilege to design, model, texture, and animate all 13 of the Lagoda’s crew members. This responsibility was immensely rewarding, as I got to conduct research on the real people the characters are based on, as well as learn a ton about life at sea in the 19th Century.

In addition to bringing the crew members to life, I was also responsible for a lot of animation in the game itself. This includes UI, cameras, and custom cutscenes that animate real New Bedford paintings. I used a variety of tools for these animations, including Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, and Unity.

“Nun of Your Business”

For a character design class I explored some loose ideas I had from an older project [listed below]. The final assignment was to create a trio of characters, succesfully demonstrating a proficiency in design, appeal, personality, and cohesion. Part of the project was writing the characters’ backstories in addition to establishing a universe they could live in. This was super fun and I learned a lot about the challenges and rewards involved in the character design process. The result was a colorful combination of necromancy, giant swords, con-artists, sarcastic spirits, heroic knights, nihilistic humor, the Spanish Inquisition, skeletons, and big poofy dresses!

The “Zombie Project”

I had the amazing privelege to work with my super talented friend DeAngelo Buxton on an animated short that combines our best skills. We spent 10 weeks on this project to prove that we could composite traditional 2D animation in a 3D environment with complex camera moves. DeAngelo tackled the construction of the short’s spooky dungeon in Unreal Engine 5, while I handled the storyboarding and animation of the characters. We brought everything together in After Effects, and I’m really proud of the result. Watch the whole short here!

Siel Bleu Social Media Promos

During my Marketing and Communications internship at Fundación Siel Bleu, I was really able to let my creativity shine in my work. I was tasked with the production promotional videos intended for YouTube and FaceBook. These videos promoted internal company events, such as happy hours on Thursdays and exercise classes held throughout the week. As my internship continued, I transitioned into the development of motion graphics meant to serve as visual aids in more formal, educational content.
